Well here they are:
Miranda, Roselynn, and Lane posing with there "Variable Planting Medium Project" after it was completed. This project started two weeks ago and involved finding three different types of materials to plant bean seeds in. One that they thought would be a good place to plant the beans, one they didn't think was so good (so,so), and one they didn't think the bean seeds would like(bad).Roselynn's results:
Bean row soil hypothesis- good ------ results- didn't grow
garden compost hypothesis- so- so ----- results- 2 sprouts - good
bark hypothesis- bad ------ results- grew
Lane's results:
bark hypothesis- good ------ results- so, so
pea row soil hypothesis-so, so ------ results- nothing, soil smelly and couldn't find bean seed
rocks hypothesis- bad ------ results- grew
Miranda's results:
commercial compost hypothesis- good ------ results- grew
bark dust hypothesis-so, so ------ results- grew
rock hypothesis- bad ------ results- didn't grow, it rotted - water it too much
when they were finished they presented their results to the rest of the gardener's during coffee break.
Propagation Lesson
Then they were out to the greenhouse to make little gallon jug greenhouse of their own to take home. They started house plant cutting in them. Miranda is holding on to hers.

Roselynn was so excited about planting that she and Miranda potted up some strawberries from her mother's row and some orange seeds I had brought for them to try. We are hoping they will grow so we can sell them at the Flea Market this May.
These kids will soon be ready for their own garden plots!

Looks like these kids are learning a lot about gardening. I can hardly wait to see what they will grow in their own garden plots!
